5 Lessons Learned: My Personal Journey as a Modern CFO.

As a modern CFO, I have learned a lot over the years about what it takes to succeed in this role.

Here are 5 key lessons that have helped shape my personal journey:

1) Embrace change:

The world of finance is constantly evolving, and as a CFO, you need to be able to adapt and embrace change.

This means staying up to date on industry trends, learning new technologies, and being open to new ways of doing things.

2) Build strong relationships:

As a CFO, you will be working with a wide range of people, from employees and customers to investors and board members.

Building strong relationships with all of these stakeholders is crucial to your success.

3) Communicate effectively:

Being able to clearly and concisely communicate financial information to a variety of audiences is an essential skill for a CFO.

Whether you are presenting to the board or explaining financial concepts to non-financial team members, being able to communicate effectively is key.

4) Stay organized:

Managing a company’s finances can be complex, with many moving parts.

Staying organized and having systems in place to manage all of the different financial tasks is essential to your success as a CFO.

5) Take calculated risks:

While financial stability is important, taking calculated risks can also lead to growth and success.

As a CFO, you need to be able to balance these 2 conflicting priorities and make decisions that are in the best interest of the company.

Overall, being a modern CFO is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a combination of the following:

Technical skills,
Strategic thinking,
Strong leadership.

I am grateful for all of the lessons I have learned along the way and look forward to continuing to grow and evolve in this role.
